AppSheet Foundations: Free Google Course Instruction

Explore no-code app construction, data structure, views, testing and deployment through Google’s free AppSheet foundational instruction.

AppSheet Foundations course cover with an illustrative app screen, spreadsheet grid and view-layout card.

Building an app without writing its core code still involves decisions about data, screens and user behavior. Google’s Building No-Code Apps with AppSheet: Foundations introduces those decisions through the AppSheet editor and an app-construction workflow.

The course provides thirty-seven videos, five quizzes and reading resources, with four required practical labs accessed separately. The free instruction covers no-code fundamentals, app setup, data configuration, views and deployment. It is a substantial instructional starting point for understanding the process; it does not promise free licenses or an app already built for you.

What you’ll learn

  • Explore no-code app concepts, AppSheet use cases and the editor.
  • Follow the instructional sequence for creating, testing and sharing an app.
  • Review data sources, data structure and using more than one table.
  • Understand AppSheet views and user-experience customization.
  • Review the course’s app deployment and publishing topics.

  • View and UX vocabulary
  • Testing-workflow interpretation
  • Deployment planning

Connect the data with the app’s purpose

The opening module explains app fundamentals, introduces AppSheet and shows use cases. The later instruction turns to signing in, creating a first app, testing and sharing it. That sequence helps you distinguish the intended user task from the steps used to construct the app.

Data configuration receives its own module, including sources, structure and multiple tables. For independent reflection, sketch a fictional record that an app would manage and describe the information its user needs to enter or retrieve. A fictional example keeps the exercise focused on structure and the user’s task.

A spreadsheet can supply data in the examples, but the course’s main subject is app construction. The lessons connect that data with the software workflow: constructing an app, shaping its views and deciding how it will be shared.

Review what the user will actually experience

The views and user-experience lessons connect the app’s data with what a person sees and does. Deployment lessons then describe publishing and deployment methods. These topics are useful together: a working editor view is not the same decision as making an app available to end users.

As independent study, choose one fictional user action and explain how a person would know it succeeded. Note what you would want to test before sharing the app. Use that action to connect the view and testing lessons with a concrete user need.

The four labs cover creating a basic app, configuring data, implementing user experience and publishing. They are required practical activities for the wider course but separate from the free lecture route. Independent AppSheet access and deployment permissions or licenses must be considered on their own terms.

Free learning and practical access

The instruction is officially advertised Free, with a free Google Skills account required. Four provider-required labs are separately accessed; hosted lab credits and independent AppSheet use or deployment may involve costs. Google’s five-hour-30-minute estimate describes the course structure, not verified free-video running time.

Any provider badge depends on its required activities and access conditions. A free badge, professional certification or academic credit is not promised.

Frequently asked questions

Does the course cover more than app creation?

Yes. The actual video sequence includes testing, sharing, data structure, multiple tables, views, user-experience customization and deployment as well as creating a first app.

Why is this classified with software rather than spreadsheets?

Its main learning goal is building and deploying no-code applications. Spreadsheet data is an input in the workflow, rather than the whole instructional subject.

Is deployment included in the free instruction?

The free lessons discuss app deployment and publishing. Deploying your own app is a separate practical step subject to AppSheet access, permissions and any applicable licensing; the four provider labs are accessed separately.
