About this course
A store needs a working connection between what you sell, what customers see and what happens after an order. Moe Farhat’s introductory Shopify course tours those connected areas, from product information and theme choices to orders, domains and additional sales channels.
The English beginner course contains 11 lectures in one section, with about 82 minutes listed. Its January 2019 update date makes it a legacy introduction. Use it to understand the purpose of store administration, while consulting current Shopify guidance for today’s interface. The source title’s reference to becoming an expert does not establish professional proficiency or a Shopify credential.

What you’ll learn
Follow how settings, a storefront theme, products and orders fit into an online shop. The outline introduces product options and variants, domain connections, customer records, apps and sales channels. It is a short orientation to store operations, rather than a complete course in app development, tax compliance, supplier selection or customer acquisition.
Skills you’ll gain
- Identify the main areas of a Shopify store’s administration.
- Organise product information and variants.
- Distinguish a theme from store content and settings.
- Recognize the relationship between orders and customer records.
- Explain what domains, apps and sales channels add.
- Check a legacy tutorial against current platform guidance.
Connect preparation with the customer’s experience
The settings lesson covers practical decisions such as packages, payment methods, tax settings and policies. Those settings serve different purposes. A shipping package affects fulfillment, while a policy explains the terms a customer can read. Seeing them together can help a beginner make a preparation checklist without assuming that one configuration suits every business or jurisdiction.
Product and order lessons form a substantial part of the outline. Product details describe the offering; variants represent options such as size or colour. An order is a separate operational record after a purchase. For independent practice, sketch a small fictional catalogue with your own descriptions and list the information needed to fulfil an order. Do not enter real customer data into a practice exercise.
Treat the theme demonstration as a legacy example
The storefront walkthrough refers to the Debut theme and older navigation. Current Shopify documentation distinguishes vintage themes, Online Store 2.0 themes and newer themes supporting theme blocks. Vintage themes are no longer available in the Theme Store. The recording therefore should not be treated as an exact sequence for installing a theme in a new store today.
There is still a useful distinction to learn: the theme controls presentation, while pages, navigation and product information supply content. When a screen differs, identify the task before searching for a matching menu. The course does not establish coverage of the latest theme architecture or advanced theme development, and its historical example is not a reason to install an unofficial copy.
Understand extensions without copying retired instructions
The apps lesson introduces extending a store, and the public description mentions private apps. Shopify’s current developer documentation identifies private apps as deprecated. Treat that terminology as historical; follow current documentation for any implementation. This short overview does not demonstrate that a learner can safely design an integration or manage access credentials.
Domains and sales channels are also introduced. A domain provides an address, while a channel adds another place to offer products. Neither creates demand by itself. The customers-and-analytics lecture is brief, so expect orientation rather than a full analytics programme, a privacy compliance course or a tested method for improving sales.
Keep learning costs separate from operating costs
The individual Udemy recordings are free; operating a Shopify shop is a separate service. A Shopify plan, a custom domain and some apps or themes can cost money. No ongoing free Shopify store, perpetual trial or paid application is included with course enrollment. You can first watch and organise notes without committing to a store subscription.
The course mentions selling your own products and dropshipping, but it does not establish a complete sourcing or fulfillment arrangement. Investigate delivery responsibilities, returns, product rights and supplier terms before making an offer to customers. The useful outcome of this introduction is a clearer picture of the work involved, without a promise of revenue or professional accreditation.
Shopify theme architecture guidance: Check the features supported by your current theme. Shopify app distribution documentation: Read the current app types and deprecated terminology.
