Course Overview

The publisher’s curriculum starts with the interface, navigation and basic calculations. It then develops sorting, filtering, charts, sparklines and PivotTables before introducing more advanced lookup, database-function and macro concepts. The course supports a progression from entering information to analysing and maintaining it. Use a small workbook throughout the classes so you can see how each new technique changes the same practical task. The recordings provide a learning route; current features and function availability may differ between Excel versions.

How to study the course

  • Begin with the introductory class and practise data entry and basic calculations before moving into later topics. Keep headings and values consistent.
  • Use the intermediate and advanced sessions to answer a more demanding question about the workbook. Verify the result rather than relying only on its appearance.

Use the searchable classroom lesson list to revisit a specific explanation. Pause after a useful demonstration, reproduce a small example and explain the result in your own words. Keep a short note of what worked, what changed and what you still need to understand before moving on.

Who is this for?

This course suits beginners, students and office professionals using Excel for everyday tasks. It also helps experienced users review the relationship between familiar tools and a more organised spreadsheet workflow.

Before you start

No advanced Excel knowledge is required to start. A suitable Excel version is useful for practice; some demonstrated functions or macro features may need specific editions. The video course does not include a software license.

Put the lessons into practice

Create a workbook of invented event costs with categories, dates and amounts. Add a basic total, sort and filter the records, and make one summary or visual that answers a clear question. Use a later-course technique to improve the workbook, then add a new record and check the outcome. Calculate a small sample manually to confirm the result. Write brief instructions explaining the purpose of the data, the assumptions behind a formula and the way another user should update the file.

This optional activity is provided by WikiFree for independent practice. It is not a graded assignment from the instructor. Keep your working notes, check the result against the task you defined and return to the relevant lesson when an assumption or technique is unclear.

Certificate / Assessment

Watching the public videos and using WikiFree progress tracking does not award a certificate, exam voucher, academic credit or instructor assessment.

Use your practice output to review what you can now explain and repeat independently. Completion tracking records your study progress; it does not replace an assessed qualification or professional experience.
