What you need

Comfort writing simple English instructions. Use a document or HTML page; no learning platform is required.

The selected public provider lessons are free to view. The original case can be completed with paper, a text editor or freely available local tools. Paid exams, certificates, subscriptions and optional provider software are not required for this project.

Completing this WikiFree path does not award a provider certificate. Any provider assessment, account requirement or credential must be checked separately on its official page.

Three readiness questions

Can six minutes teach all business English?

No. Choose one observable action.

Is a multiple-choice answer enough to prove production skill?

No. Include a written response.

Should feedback only say wrong?

No. Explain how to improve the target action.

Use a workable pace

At 5 hours per week, allow about 2 weeks. Start with Stage 1, continue in order and reserve 2h for the capstone. If a gate fails, use its repair step before advancing. At another weekly budget, divide 443 estimated minutes by your available weekly minutes and round up.

Keep a small evidence folder. A checked box means you reviewed your output; it is not a certificate or proof that a provider lesson was watched.

The working case

A six-minute learning sequence

A fictional learner receives an unclear workplace request: Send the report soon. The micro-lesson teaches asking for a specific deadline politely. The target response is a clear question such as Could you confirm the date and time you need the report? The lesson does not assess overall English proficiency.

Learn, make, inspect

The five-stage workshop

01

Choose one observable outcome

Video 2m · reading budget 0m · original practice about 50m.

A small lesson needs a narrow action and a realistic context. Define what the learner should produce, not merely what they should understand. In this case the output is one polite deadline-clarification question. Avoid adding grammar topics that do not serve that action. The timing is a design budget, not a measured completion time.

Pass the review gate

The criterion checks politeness, a clear request and a specific deadline question.

If you need another attempt

Replace understand communication with an observable sentence task.

02

Model and explain the pattern

Video 5m · reading budget 0m · original practice about 1h 5m.

Show a short example and point out the useful parts. Contrast a vague reply with a question that requests the missing information. Keep the explanation short enough to leave time for practice. The original lesson text in the pack is instructional material, not a transcript of the provider video.

Do the work

Write the model sentence and a brief explanation of its parts.

Model and teaching note

Pass the review gate

The model asks for date and time without sounding accusatory.

If you need another attempt

Remove words that do not help the learner reproduce the action.

03

Build guided and independent practice

Video 3m · reading budget 0m · original practice about 1h 15m.

Guided practice can help a learner notice a useful pattern, but independent production tests whether they can apply it. Use a different unclear request for the final response so the learner does more than copy. Keep the answer key explanatory rather than declaring one wording universally correct.

Do the work

Create one choice item and one original-response prompt.

Practice set

Pass the review gate

The independent prompt changes the context while keeping the same skill.

If you need another attempt

Add a transfer task instead of repeating the model verbatim.

04

Write feedback and retry

Video 3m · reading budget 0m · original practice about 1h .

Feedback should point to the success criterion and suggest a manageable revision. Accept multiple polite phrasings that request the missing deadline. Do not penalize harmless variation merely because it differs from the model. Provide a retry so feedback becomes part of learning rather than an endpoint.

Write feedback for vague, blunt and complete responses.

Feedback bank

Pass the review gate

Each feedback message names one concrete improvement.

If you need another attempt

Replace generic praise or rejection with criterion-based guidance.

05

Package and review the lesson

Video 5m · reading budget 0m · original practice about 55m.

Choose technology that supports the lesson without becoming the task. A readable HTML or text version can work offline and at small screen sizes. A six-minute plan is only an estimate until learners try it. Keep a pilot observation sheet and avoid claiming the lesson was tested with participants when it was not.

Make the result inspectable

Your final project

Deliver the six-minute lesson, model, two practice tasks, feedback bank, success criteria and pilot sheet. Add a second context about an unclear meeting request to test transfer.

The ZIP includes synthetic input data, a project workbook, worked reference, evidence log, scoring rubric and case-specific materials. Code projects include source and clearly stated local execution requirements.

Use one consistent rubric

Criterion Maximum Evidence
Evidence and correctness 30 Calculations, source use and results match the supplied case; limitations are honest.
Required artifacts 30 All five stage outputs and the capstone handoff are present and inspectable.
Reasoning and decisions 20 Choices, assumptions, alternatives and the case-specific critical condition are explained.
Reproducibility 10 A reviewer can follow the stated steps and distinguish expected from observed results.
Clear communication 10 Labels, units, structure and evidence references make the work easy to review.

Score at least 80/100, supply every required artifact, and satisfy the path-specific critical condition. Rework missing evidence before marking complete.

The critical condition

The lesson assesses only the stated clarification skill and does not claim broader proficiency or unperformed learner testing.

Compare with a worked reference

The five planned segments total 1+1+1+2+1 = 6 minutes. A strong response asks for the missing deadline politely and specifically. Could you confirm when you need it? is useful, but requesting the date and time is more precise for this case.

Know the boundary

This is one original micro-lesson, not an accredited English course or evidence of learning gains.

Questions before you finish

Do I need to finish every source course?

No. This path names selected lessons or reading sections. Complete the full provider course only if it supports your wider goal. The path does not claim equivalence to that course.

How do I know when to advance?

Use the output and review gate in each stage. If evidence is missing or a result conflicts with the case, follow the repair step and retry before advancing.

Can I do the project without paid software?

The selected public provider lessons are free to view. The original case can be completed with paper, a text editor or freely available local tools. Paid exams, certificates, subscriptions and optional provider software are not required for this project.

What does my checklist prove?

It records your own review in this browser only. It does not verify viewing, skill, a provider credential or a real-world deployment.

What if a lesson or tool changes?

Use the linked course and provider page to inspect current availability. Record the change and revisit the relevant assignment; do not invent a replacement lesson or claim an unavailable activity was completed.
