Learning Notes That Help You Restart

Keep the question, the example, and the next action close together.

A useful note records enough context for your next session. You do not need to rewrite the entire lesson. Focus on the task you tried, the result you expected, and the point you want to understand better.

Keep a short session record

Record the date, the course or task, what you tried, and what worked. Add one unresolved question and the next action you will take. If you only have a few minutes, write the next action first.

Keep examples with explanations

Save a small example and explain it in your own words. Name the inputs and the output. If you changed something, record the change and what happened. A note becomes more useful when it explains why the example matters to your goal.

Make failures reproducible

For an error, record the smallest example that still produces the problem. State the expected result and the actual result. Write the fix when you find it, including the assumption that caused the mistake.

Protect private information

Before sharing a note or screenshot, remove passwords, API keys, personal records, and details that are not needed to answer the question. Use a small fictional example when real data is unnecessary.

Review before you collect more

At the end of the week, read your open questions. Choose one to resolve or practise next. This review can guide your next lesson more effectively than adding another unrelated course to your list.
